Course Description

This course will build on the learning that occurred in Teaching of Communication Arts and Literature, Part 1. We will continue to examine best practices for helping adolescents develop as readers, writers, speakers, listeners, and critical thinkers. This semester will focus especially on the teaching of writing. We will also learn and practice: planning effective units and lessons, designing effective assessments (both formative and summative), and meeting the needs of diverse learners. The course includes a 30-hour clinical placement with at least one opportunity to teach a lesson.
