Course Description
This course will provide you with an understanding of the basic concepts of and analytical tools for the study of language and culture. Since all graduate students and language teachers not only transmit existing knowledge about a language but also need to be capable of creating their own analyses in response to new linguistic issues, it is essential that students and teachers know about all linguistic core areas and their concurrent investigative procedures. In connection with this dual program goal of educating you as language (1) teachers (2), I would like to outline the course goals. There are two main goals that will be intertwined throughout the course: teach linguistics and teach graduate student/professional research skills.
