Advanced Linguistic Analysis

Course Description
The purpose of this course is to develop a more in-depth understanding of language structure by investigating selected topics in linguistics and relate that knowledge to ESL teaching/learning ("more in-depth" in the sense that what we’ll be covering will be above and beyond of what you learned in Hamline’s Intro to Ling class). Emphasis will be on doing actual linguistic analysis and discovering regularities, and relevance of such knowledge to ESL. While this course isn't meant to cover teaching methodologies, wherever feasible we'll discuss ramifications of the course content for ESL.
