Abstract
The research questions addressed in this project were: what are the most effective family engagement strategies for English Learners? and how do barriers to engagement, including the digital divide, impact family engagement strategies? After presenting the literature related to models of family engagement, the connection between engagement and student success, and issues specific to EL family engagement, a presentation detailing effective strategies was created. This presentation, intended to be presented by an EL staff person, highlights best practices and strategies to more effectively engage families of English learners. The goal is to provide school staff a toolkit to work effectively with families and ultimately increase student success. The project contains Google Slides, detailed presenter notes, presentation handout, presentation evaluation, and a sample communication survey for families.
