Abstract
This capstone addressed the question how do elementary students respond to the use of science notebooks? This capstone project reviewed the research literature regarding what is the nature of a science notebook and what is known about its use in the elementary classroom. A limitation of the current research is the lack of data related to how students view the use of science notebooks. This project spans a time period where students used their notebooks to record their learning throughout two science units and elicits feedback from the students about their experiences. The author documents the use of the notebooks and gathers data that supports that the students in this study found the notebooks to be helpful tools to use during science class. In addition the data supported the researcher in making adjustments to future use of science notebooks.
