Course Description
SCREENWRITING: LONG FORM Prerequisite: WRIT 3000 or instructor's permission This course will introduce students to the art and craft of screenwriting. As the number of books on screenwriting attests, there is no single formula for creating a successful screenplay. In this course we will survey a variety of strategies while emphasizing the application (or abandonment) of these strategies in your own work. During the first weeks of the semester we will complete a number of short creative assignments in order to master fundamental aspects of screenwriting. The primary project for this course will be the creation, through drafting and revision, of a 50-60 page screenplay representing the first half to two-thirds of a feature length film.
