Course Description
This course focuses on ten of the hottest, or hotly debated, issues and trends that preoccupy the minds of both policymakers and ordinary people alike in today’s world. Among the ‘hottest' topics to be discussed are the followings: global governance and the role of the state in a globalized world; worldwide refugee problem and its impact on societies; private military companies and their role in civil conflict; and religion and cross- cultural dialogue. Following a fairly deep understanding of these issues, the course will focus on the effect these issues are having and will continue to have on different groups of people in particular and the world in general. Because this is a Writing Intensive FYSem, you do not need to register for English 1110.
