Course Description
Realistic and useful ideas for working with children needing development and enhancement of social skills. Instead of following the traditional social skill concepts, focus on specific themes, such as community and belonging, peace-making and conflict resolution, self awareness, perspective taking, tolerance of differences, and cooperation. Walk away with new ideas for teaching these concepts that go beyond worksheets and discussion topics. Course is highly interactive and involves use of art projects, therapeutic games and visuals. Target audience: teachers, special educators, counselors, social workers, psychologists 1-6; but material can be easily adapted to middle and secondary grade levels.
