Course Description
Spending time outdoors has been proven to calm and focus students. In this class, students will explore general nature education topics including habitats, life cycles, animal and plant structures and functions, and food chains. We will then hone in on specific graduation standards and determine how to develop corresponding lesson plans. Students will be able to use this course to enhance their current curriculum in science, social science, mathematics, language arts, and the arts. Topics will be presented in a way that can be transferred to the school yard or on a self-directed trip to a local park or nature center. We will also examine the nature resources indepth and demonstrate constructive teaching tools.
