Abstract
The research question addressed in this Capstone was, how do kindergarten German immersion teachers describe the challenges and benefits of creating language arts curriculum for their classroom? The motivating factor for this research was the lack of appropriate curriculum materials available for kindergarten learners in various German immersion programs. The author uses interviews and questionnaires to obtain information about the successes and difficulties kindergarten teachers face when planning, creating and implementing curriculum. Teachers were open about their frustrations and struggles yet remained encouraged by the sense of community and purpose they experienced in their work. The author concludes that more collaboration and resource sharing among professionals is needed.
