Abstract
This paper focuses on one reason for the lack of success of students who come from a cultural background that is different from the culture that is represented in schools. I interviewed educators and community members with personal or professional experience working with students from different cultures. Each interviewee was interviewed twice during this qualitative research project in order to provide for a period of reflection on the part of the respondents. The central question addressed was: How do subtle cultural differences affect learning.
