Abstract
The research question addressed in this project is, how can students become more proficient in their oral and written Spanish language in an immersion school setting with explicit Spanish language instruction? The project entails a series of research-based professional development sessions highlighting specific instructional strategies for immersion classroom teachers. The study discusses the differences between what research reveals around form focused instruction within immersion school settings. In addition, the study describes the rationale behind how the professional development sessions were designed using research-based adult learning principles. The capstone concludes by providing a suggested timeline of how the professional development sessions could be implemented.
