Abstract
This study explores motivation in third grade alliterate readers. The methodology included self-reported surveys completed by students, student-teacher conferences, and anecdotal observations made by the researcher. Conclusions from the study support motivation increases when choice, interesting texts, a variety of genres, and conversations about reading are present in the learning environment. [The author] explores aliteracy, the multifaceted face nature of reading motivation, and outlines seven key components used to increase reading motivation.
