Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was, how do fourth grade students describe the art creation process after implementing a choice-based art lesson? It documents one teacher's journey of using a choice-based art lesson with his fourth grade students. The project integrates a variety of assessment and self reflection tools, which explore the thoughts and feelings of young artists, as they interpret the process of creating a finished work of art. The author documents some of the details of the investigation and finds connections between the students life, art, and world around them as they create their final works of art like a working artist does.
