Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was, what are some effective reading strategies for increasing words per minute read in a 4th grade French Immersion classroom? It documents one teacher's creation of a web based Repeated Reading site. The Repeated Reading strategy, based on Grabe's and Kuhn's research, is an effective strategy for increasing words per minute read in one's native language and in a second language. At the site, students who are reading below grade level can access pre-recorded texts accompanied with the words in the text. The students read the text several times throughout the week, timing how long it takes them with a set goal of how many seconds per reading.
