Abstract
The research question addressed was how do we build community in the Jaguar Core through Advisory and service learning? The motivating factor for this capstone was driven by the passion to develop a greater understanding for the effects of service learning built into standard curriculum. The author collected student responses and feedback through an assessment and two questionnaires. This capstone explains the results of the assessment, and the questionnaires in conjunction with each other. This encompasses details regarding students' opinions about building community within their school. The results show service learning to be an avenue for building community with a common goal. This is an affirmation that service learning contributes to building community in the classroom, core team, school and district.
