The research question addressed in this project was, what are research supported instructional strategies that nurture community in Kindergarten students of poverty in an urban setting? This capstone reflects qualitative research on poverty, the affects of poverty on children, brain development, Responsive Classroom, and Character Education. The author develops a curriculum focusing on Jensen's research that shows cooperation, patience, empathy, gratitude, and forgiveness are imperative to a community
