Abstract
This mixed methods study examines how my classroom methodologies may have shifted the attitudes of the families of my middle school language students regarding enrollment in the world language courses past the required two years. Through surveys, and student and parent interactive activities, the process of gaining information in order to try and shift the attitudes of the families of my middle school language students towards taking a second language past the recommended two years is explored. The study indicates that parental support is a major factor in increasing the number of students who continue taking a second language past the second year. The main conclusion is that parents and teachers need to work together to educate the students about the importance of learning a second language.
