Abstract
This capstone focused on the question: How do Somali-American parents perceive the relationship between early childhood education experiences and subsequent educational achievement? Related topics included: The attitudes and beliefs of Somali-American parents about schooling and the impact of immigration on educational achievement, often attributed to three related factors (poorly educated mothers, limited English language proficiency, and poverty). Research methods used were parent interviews and student surveys. Results and professional recommendations are included.
