Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was, what are the research based assessment practices to increase student learning? It documents the current researched assessment techniques including student choice, authenticity, student feedback, clear objectives, the use of rubrics, and methods of increasing student motivation through assessment. The author documents the creation of multiple geographic assessments that implement these assessment methods. He includes the process through with the assessments were made and the research behind using each assessment method. The author creates and discusses four research-based assessments that include components of the techniques stated above including: essay writing, Negative Population Growth Choice Project, Britney Spears Comeback World Tour, and Urban Models Choice Project.
