Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was, what the effects of differentiation are on student engagement. This capstone shows evidence that differentiation positively effects student engagement. It documents one teacher's creation of a novel unit that incorporated several aspects of differentiation. The unit integrated many levels of differentiation based on research from Tomlinson and others. The author documents the daily activities of the unit and uses literature on the subject to validate and analyze the results of the study. Successes and difficulties in implementing the unit are discussed and further suggestions for research are presented. The author hopes this capstone will encourage readers to further investigate differentiation and implement aspects of differentiation into their classrooms.
