Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was how can action research be an effective professional development tool in the implementation of the Play and Learn Curriculum? The motivation for this capstone was twofold. First the integrated Play and Learn curriculum was offered as a professional development opportunity for the teaching staff. This further desired the author to investigate what makes professional development a useful tool for teachers. Action research was the key element to bring professional development into practice in the classroom. This capstone details three areas: Play and Learn, Professional Development and Action Research. The author investigates Coleman and Krueger, author of Play and Learn as well as the literature from Mills and DuFour concerning action research.
