Abstract
This capstone provides strategies for teachers to offer parents to encourage parent involvement. It presents the importance of parent involvement, the considerations of, and strategies to encourage parent involvement. Next, it provides survey results from parents in a fourth grade classroom that shows how parents are involved in their child's education, what prevents them from being involved, and what parents feel would help them become more involved in their child's education. This capstone also includes interview results from a parent involvement coordinator in a school district that has developed a strong parent education program. Finally, it suggests strategies to encourage parent involvement responded to the research with immediate application to the needs of a diverse population.
