Abstract

The research topic addressed in this project is, introducing stability balls into a kindergarten classroom to determine on-task behavior and student perceptions of the balls. The stability balls were used in place of standard classroom chairs for two weeks and documents the student on-task behavior as well as student perceptions of the balls at the end of two weeks. Findings show that there was an increase in on-task behavior when the students were sitting on the stability balls compared to when students were on chairs. Student and parent questioners were used to determine student perceptions. Based on the responses received, the students overwhelmingly loved the balls because they thought they were fun and they believed they could concentrate and work better when using them.
