Abstract

The research question addressed in this project was, how does one create a positive classroom community? The prompt for the study was the lack of cohesiveness within elementary classrooms through the school year. This study follows the research and experiences of one teacher implementing the proposed ideas of a variety of experts. A series of activities and lessons are detailed and the author carried them out in a fourth grade classroom. Before and after interviews were conducted with the students and the author made observations as a teacher. The results were analyzed, dissecting successes, struggles, and future studies.
