Abstract
This capstone focuses on the impact of Whiteness on Native American students. A White teacher explores the question: What is the impact of my being White on my Native American students, when it comes to learning and their attitudes toward education? The motivation behind this capstone was the students, in order to become a better teacher for them. Some key influences included peers, co-workers, family members, and his personal educational experiences. The teacher used two focus groups of his Native American students to determine the exact impact of his Whiteness in his classroom. The data was collected from both group and combined for analysis. One major finding is the use of separateness, which consists of the teacher separating himself from the negative preconceived notions Native Americans students may have towards White people.
