Abstract
The aim of this research is to use motivational aspects as the basis of a teacher guidebook focused on reading instruction for adolescent readers. The reading strategies in the guidebook are designed to stress the motivational aspects of choice, links, interest, community, kindness, and self-efficacy (C.L.I.C.K.S). Key influences include over nine years of reading classroom teaching experience, countless fellow educators, and former and current students. The guidebook is modeled after other guidebooks, such as those by Buehl and Allen. Educators were consulted about feasibility, clarity, and effectiveness to determine best strategies to include in guidebook. Reading best practices information is also incorporated as a part of the guidebook.
