Abstract
This capstone is supported on action research toward finding solutions to successful classroom management. What are the recommended classroom management techniques for a diverse classroom? One classroom is not like any other, from the teacher and set up of the room to the students and where they come from. Student behavior is changing and the expectations of students are not identical. After researching the Responsive Classroom and Restitution approaches, along with other techniques, I found a useful combination of management methods to help a classroom grow as a community. Using surveys, Responsive Classroom activities, Restitution lessons, and focus groups provided a balance of responsibility and expectations to the students in the classroom. The diverse needs of my students were met using a variety of these tools and strategies.
