Abstract
The research for this capstone was centered on locating best practices for meeting the needs of third grade kinesthetic learners in the subject of reading. The focus of the project was to locate research-based curriculum that could be adapted and embedded into the current Houghton-Mifflin reading materials. The curriculum outlined in this capstone is based on a wide variety of works by experts whose research of kinesthetic-style learners offers insight and proven methods in the areas of reading and vocabulary development. Through the research, many ideas surfaced that were used as a basis for curriculum development curriculum was developed for themes one through four of the third grade Houghton-Mifflin series.
