Abstract
The research question addressed by this capstone is What do Saint Paul parents need in order to feel supported, prepared, and empowered in their parenting? The author chose this question to inform the design of a parenting center that she was creating in Saint Paul. To assess the needs of parents, she surveyed parents in Saint Paul Public Schools' Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) program. Her major findings included that parents get most of their parenting information from family, friends, and instructors, are not aware of what resources are available or where to look, want more opportunities to talk with other parents, and are looking for places where children can be physically active and have opportunities for socialization.
