Abstract
The research question addressed in this capstone was what are some relationships between scientific inquiry, science notebooks and student achievement? The purpose of this capstone was to examine how scientific inquiry and science notebooks help students learn science. Key influences for this capstone were classes attended by the author that inspired a renewed interest in the use of science notebooks and inquiry in the classroom. The author measures and describes changes in student work throughout the school year. Students showed an increase in quality and quantity of writing in the notebooks. Students showed a measurable increase in scores from pre-test to post-test.
