Course Description
Gain a better understanding of a brain injury and its impact on school-age children and how this affects in classrooms. Study selected information in neuroanatomy, what happens when the brain is injured, measures used to label the severity of an injury, and the recovery process. Discuss how a brain injury affects the entire family and the importance of working collaboratively with medical and community agencies. Explore instructional strategies to employ in classroom settings. Become familiar with the Minnesota special education criteria for traumatic brain injury (TBI). NOTE: This course is required for completion of the Traumatic Brain Injury Certificate.
