Course Description
This course is intended to provide ESL licensure students with a foundation in best practice literacy instruction for K-12 students. The course begins by reflecting upon the theoretical and historical definitions of reading and analyzing individuals beliefs about literacy acquisition. Addressing the foundations of how children learn to read and then touches briefly on the transition from emergent to fluent transitional reading for students at the middle and high school level. Target audience: K-12 ESL language teachers.
