Course Description
Join this core introduction to environmental education, a course developed as part of a statewide initiative. Model activities and techniques for integrating environmental education in urban or rural settings. Focus on investigation and problem solving of community issues in building meaningful curriculum for students. Ecosystem concepts and citizenship skills are woven through study of natural, human and social interactions. Integration of social studies, literacy, art, math and science culminate in holistic models of environmental education. Learn about environmental education resources, including the SEEK directory, curriculum materials and the Internet. NOTE: Course includes one overnight stay at the Audubon Center.This course can be used in Area 1 of the Certificate in Environmental Education. Target audience: teachers K-12.
