Course Description

Do you know you're never more than six feet away from a spider? Silk, web, fangs and venom are not everything there is to know about spiders. These abundant predators - the largest carnivorous order of animals - structure the terrestrial food chain. Guided by research scientists in the American Museum of Natural History's world-renowned spider lab, focus on the study of spiders and explore the importance of counting and cataloging them. Ascertain how each new species is a treasure, and why careers are devoted to studying them. Offered in partnership with the American Museum of Natural History. Accelerated online course. Target audience: educators 6-adult. Note: Shortly before the course begins, you will receive an email directly from AMNH providing information on how to access the online course. The e-mail will go to your "preferred" e-mail address (as listed in the Hamline database), and you should receive it by the week prior to the course start date. Courses offered in partnership with AMNH are nonrefundable after the start date of the course. Please contact gcs@hamline.edu for the current tuition amount.
