Course Description
Teach for the use of strategies in K-2. Analyze the why, when, and how of guided reading, a flexible grouping approach which builds on the strengths of learners. Gain an understanding of how to support students in becoming independent problem solvers while reading. Analyze teacher decision making and student interactions through video. Develop strategies for activating schema, making connections, predicting, monitoring understanding, questioning and inferring. NOTE: Can be used toward the Literacy Certificate for the Teaching of Reading & Writing. Target audience: educators K-2.
