Course Description
This practicum will provide a platform for students to work with nonprofit organizations to develop and / or strengthen an organization's social media capacity as a means to engage their various customer and donor segments, enhance their marketing capacity, and generate more financial support. Pairs of students will work extensively in one or more nonprofit organizations, meet with experts in the field of marketing and social media to expand their own understanding of good practices and emerging opportunities, and develop a portfolio of their work to build their resume. Co-teachers, Zimmerman and Rendahl, along with guest practitioners, bring fundraising and social media experience to the course that will benefit from a shared learning modality. Students will be expected to teach as well as learn during the term. Most of the course time will be spent working directly with nonprofit partners. Prerequisites: NPFT 3010 or NPFT 3020 or MKTG 3100 or approval of instructor NOTE: This course has a $100 fee. For more detail, click here.
