Course Description
Goals: To understand the key social, economic, and political developments that shaped the United States from the early 17th century to 1865. Content: Various topics such as the Early Republic, the building of social and political institutions, the Westward expansion and its effect on the nation, the road to the Civil War, industrialization, reform and the move toward a welfare state, ethnic relations within American society, the rise of the U.S. to the status of a world power, and America and the Middle East. HIST1310 covers the time period from 1865 to the present. Taught: Annually Credits: 4
