Course Description
The class will be conducted as a seminar. Themes, issues, and controversies related to studies of ancient Oceania will be presented and students will select their own topic, conduct research, evaluate the evidence, and create a professional and illustrated PowerPoint presentation. Using the PowerPoint they will present the issue or controversy to the class, then discuss their research to try to resolve or understand the evidence, and draw their own informed conclusions. Along with a copy of their PowerPoint, students will produce a paper reflective of the content of their PowerPoint presentation, allowing for further elaboration and referencing of research.
