Course Description
The Arts in Health Internship provides students with training and supervision in the practice of arts in health. Successful completion of the ART 1980 Special Topics: Arts in Health is a prerequisite to apply for the Arts in Health Internship. Interns will develop practical skills (drawing, painting, sculpture) in order to teach groups and individuals at Children’s Hospital and Clinics. Students are given opportunities to acquire professional experience, engage the community, strengthen arts education skills, facilitate health education, and develop a personal creative practice. Interns will document their experiences by archiving their art in an internship portfolio. 120 hours are to be completed at the Children’s Hospital and/or other approved sites. This internship experience is intended for and satisfies a requirement towards the Public Health Sciences major. Prerequisite: ART 1980 Special Topics: Arts in Health. Permission of Instructor OR Art Department Chair OR Public Health Sciences Chair required to register. Students must also register for the 0-credit INTD 3990 Internship course to earn the W for this internship. This course does not count towards the Studio Arts or Art History major or minor.
