Course Description
This is a lecture and laboratory course covering the theories and analyses of the physiological responses and adaptations to exercise for human fitness, performance, and health. You must register for the accompanying laboratory portion, which meets 3 hours per week. The following areas are covered in the course: exercise metabolism and energy transfer; cardiorespiratory responses to acute and chronic exercise; skeletal muscle physiology and adaptation; elucidating fatigue; principles of training; exercise in extreme environmental conditions; mechanism of action of ergogenic aids; and body composition, nutrition, and weight control. Prerequisites: BIOL 3200
