Course Description
Goals: To understand the basis of microevolution through population genetics; to demonstrate the uses of molecular genetic data in evolutionary biology; to explore the mechanisms of evolutionary change; and to show how these mechanisms have led to the evolutionary history seen in the fossil record. Content: The nature of biological variation, genetic structure of populations, Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, quantitative genetics, principles of evolutionary phylogenetics, evolutionary processes, and the evolutionary history of major taxa. Prerequisite: BIOL 3050.
