Course Description
Goals: To gain experience with a variety of ethnographic research methods and techniques. Content: Reading and discussion of exemplary ethnographies; delimiting a social field in which to conduct research; generating a research proposal; establishing rapport with members of the community; making observations of human behavior in natural settings; and documenting ethnographic data (through written field notes, interviews and transcripts, photography, audio- or video-recordings, etc.). Taught: Alternate years. Prerequisites: ANTH 1160.
