Course Description
Topics and time periods covered vary from year to year. Recent examples: U.S. History from 1607 to 1865; U.S. History from 1865. Goals: To understand the key social, economic, and political developments that shaped the United States from the early 17th century to the present day. Content: Various topics such as immigration, the building of social and political institutions, the Westward expansion and its effect on the nation, the road to the Civil War, industrialization, reform and the move toward a welfare state, ethnic relations within American society, and the rise of the U.S. to the status of a world power. Taught: Annually.
