Course Description
We’ll study two related sets of questions about J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter stories. First, what does the saga tell us about how to live our own lives? Second, how can words on a page create a world as rich as Harry’s, and what happens when that world is translated into film? We will look at the Harry Potter books and films, scholarly reactions to Rowling's work, and other book/film pairs in the same genre to learn something about how fiction and film work, and about the deeper moral to Harry’s story.
