Course Description
Birth and death are the great portals through which we enter and take leave of this life. They are emotionally laden passages filled with joy and wonder, awe and heartbreak. They are also political minefields. Issues and choices surrounding them are the most polarizing of subjects. From reproductive choices and abortion, to artificial insemination, birthing practices, birth "defects," adoption, the death penalty, physician assisted suicide, suicide, near death experiences and reincarnation—each of them is a subject unto itself. They comprise the battle grounds for debates about social policy, women's choices, parents' rights and more.
