Course Description
To become familiar with methods and materials used to teach English as a second language, both current and historical, and to become proficient in designing lessons that meet the linguistic, academic, affective, social, and cultural needs of English learners in grades K-12. The course will review linguistic and language learning theories that underlie language teaching methods. The course reinforces the importance of standards-based and content-based instructional design and introduces assessment-driven and data-driven planning design through practice teaching.
