Course Description
The ELM Institute is a “train-the-trainer” English Learners in the Mainstream (ELM) course that will prepare teachers to provide professional development to mainstream colleagues in their schools. Following completion of this course, ELM coaches will be prepared to return to their districts and launch the ELM Project integration on site. Participants will be prepared to observe, coach, and assess mainstream teachers twice in the first year, and will continue observations and assessment in subsequent years after becoming certified ELM coaches. As a result of participation in the ELM Institute, in-service mainstream teachers will be prepared to teach the ELs in their classes and meet the Minnesota LEAPS Act re-licensure requirements at a rigorous level.
