Course Description
Goals: To introduce students to the history, theory, pedagogy, and management of content in the social sciences and history at the middle and secondary levels. First in a two-course sequence. Content: The nature of the social studies; research on social studies teaching and learning; and the motivation, engagement, and management of adolescents in the middle and secondary classroom settings. This course includes 30 hours of clinical experience outside of scheduled class time - dates, times, and school sites to be determined. Target audience: 5-12 Social Studies licensure candidates Taught: Fall term only Recommended Prerequisites: EDU 1150/GED 7815, EDU 1250/GED 7825, EDU 3260/GED 7867 Credits: 4
