Course Description
Examine the theories and components of career development, career assessment instruments that help students identify their interests, skills, values and abilities, and standardized college entrance exams taken by college bound students as they move toward college admissions. Focus on understanding the strengths and shortcomings of instruments and learn to select instruments that meet the needs of students. Help students and clients get to know themselves better so they are prepared to make good decisions about their postsecondary education and, ultimately, their careers. Target audience: Junior high, middle, and high school counselors; career-center specialists and teachers of career classes; individuals interested in developing an independent college counseling practice.
